2014 World Champions Crowned at #WranglerNFR

LAS VEGAS, NV -- December 13, 2014 Round 10 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is the books and the 2014 World Champions have been crowned.

In the first four events, the aggregate winners also earned world titles. Kaycee Feild now has four consecutive gold buckles and WNFR aggregate titles. Luke Branquinho is a five-time world champ, Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill surpassed the records for money won in the team roping and Spencer Wright is the third Wright brother to win a gold buckle.

It came down to the best time in the final round on Saturday night for the barrel racing world championship. Fallon Taylor came out as the winner after a second place finish this evening while four-time Canadian Champion Lisa Lockhart won the aggregate title picking up over $143,000 in Las Vegas.

Tuf Cooper earned his third world title in the tie-down roping and also too the aggregate saddle. Sage Kimzey had it all wrapped up by Round 8.

On the Canadian front, Jake Vold finished as the richest Canadian to leave the 2014 WNFR. Vold earned a check for a tie of third in Round 10 worth $7,969 for an 85 point effort on Good Time Charlie from Pete Carr’s Classic Pro Rodeo. That score moved him up to fourth in the aggregate which paid $22,986, moving his Las Vegas total to $74,988.

The Ponoka, Alberta athlete finished sixth in the world with a total of $142,774 in his 2014 campaign which doesn’t include money won at the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton, Calgary Stampede or any other non-sanctioned event.

Will Lowe rode Vold Rodeo's Mucho Dinero for 84 points and sixth place ($3,064).

Curtis Cassidy missed his steer in Round 10. It looked like he was going at the round and went past the steer, not getting off his horse. Cassidy leaves his fifth NFR with $43,981, 10th in the world.

No score in Round 10 for Dustin Flundra due to a mark out meant at least $12,000 less average winnings. He leaves the NFR with $28,810 in winnings, finishing 12th in the world. Don’t forget his $100,000 from Calgary this summer though he’s had a great year and he said it himself.

These three cheques from these three men brings the Canadian money won total to $147,677.

On the saddle bronc side of things for the stock, Lynx Mountain from the Calgary Stampede helped Jacobs Crawley to a second-best 83 points for $15,018. Jake Wright and Stampede Warrior teamed up for a sixth-best 78 as well.

Montana’s Beau Hill was one of only two men to cover a bull tonight in Round 10. His 60 points was quite lucrative earning him over $28,000 bringing his earnings including ground money very near to $100,000. Hill finished fourth in the world.

A total attendance record of 177,565 fans piled into the Thomas & Mack Center over the past 10 nights.

The 2015 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo takes place Dec. 3-12.
