Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) Livestock Superintendent
 
1. Introduction
The Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) is the national governing body for professional rodeo in Canada. Our mission is to govern, promote, and enhance the sport of professional rodeo in Canada. We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Livestock Superintendent for the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR). This event is a cornerstone of the rodeo calendar, celebrating the skills, culture, and traditions of rodeo sports.
 
2. Role Overview
The Livestock Superintendent will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being, safety, and proper handling of all livestock participating in the CFR. This includes receiving and loading of livestock, oversight of transport once arrived at CFR location (to and from arena), penning, feeding, watering, health care, and overall welfare of the animals, in accordance with the highest standards of animal care and safety.
 

3. Scope of Work
The appointed Livestock Superintendent will be responsible for:

• Welfare Management: Implementing and overseeing all aspects of animal care, including but not limited to feeding, housing, and health checks.
• Logistics Coordination: Managing the logistics of livestock transport, arrival, penning, and departure.
• Compliance and Standards: Ensuring all practices meet or exceed national animal welfare standards and regulations.
• Event Coordination: Working closely with CPRA officials, veterinarians, contestants, Explore Edmonton and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations concerning livestock management.
• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records related to livestock health, movements, and care.
 

4. Qualifications
Prospective candidates or firms should possess:

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in livestock management, with a preference for experience in a rodeo or similar event context.
• Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of animal welfare practices, especially as they pertain to rodeo livestock.
• Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
 

5. Proposal Submission
Proposals should include:

• Background: Livestock handling, rodeo livestock handling, livestock care and feeding
• Experience Details: Description of relevant experience, including specific roles and outcomes.
• Approach to Scope of Work: Outline of methodologies and strategies for fulfilling the scope of work.
• Budget Proposal: Detailed budget outlining all costs associated with service provision.
• Availability: Confirmation of availability for pre-event planning, event duration, and post-event activities.
 

6. Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated based on:

• Relevant Experience and Expertise
• Approach to Animal Welfare and Event Logistics
• Budget and Cost Effectiveness
• References and Past Performance
