Qualifications:

  • Maximum 30 contestants based on top 100 blended CPRA/PRCA standing as of July 6, 2026 up to and including Fort MacLeod. Ponoka’s unofficial results will be used to determine draw outs if necessary.
  • 10% (3) of contestants will consist of CPRA rookie or first year Pro members with 2026 earnings, blended with the CPRA and PRCA standings.
  • If the qualifications are not filled by Full card contestants with dollars won leaving open positions; the remaining openings will be filled by a random draw of card holders with no money won, then semi-pro card holders based on money won then random draw of any Semi pro with no money won. If there are still open positions, all remaining openings will be filled permit holders with money won followed by a random draw of Permits with no money won

Format:

  • One go-round with a (top 8) finals. $10,000 held out for short go, 6 places paid in long go, 4 places paid in short go (40%, 30%, 20%, 10%). Highest marked ride in the short go is crowned the event champion. No average shall be paid
  • Finals: Top eight (8) will advance to finals.
  • Top eight (8) will draw (from Hat or similar) their finals stock out of a pen of twelve (12). First (1st) place coming into the finals draws first down to eighth (8th). The remaining four (4) horses will be the finals re-rides (randomly drawn order).
  • If there are not eight (8) qualified rides during the long go, all remaining positions will be filled by random draw.
  • If the 8th place is tied going into the finals, the tie will be broken by highest marked spur ride from the long go, if still tied then a random draw will determine the finals qualifier.

Ground Rules:

  • Re-Entries: will be accepted for available positions at a time set by the CPRA after entries close to coincide with other entry schedules (typically all events for a particular weekend that require re-entries will be held on the same day) from 10am-12pm. See rodeo entry information on rodeo schedule. A contestant that re-enters will not be placed in a position that conflicts with his position at another CPRA rodeo or event. Additionally, if all spots are full on initial entry, a contestant that re-enters will be added to the alternate list (where accepted) but will be placed at the bottom of the list below those that entered on original entry day regardless of qualifications.
  • Standardized Alternate Replacement Procedure will be in place for this event based on CPRA 2026 (standardized groundrules)
  • Walk up Replacement (implemented for 2026 season) will be in place for this event based on CPRA 2026 (standardized ground rules)

    * Any contestant that is a replacement will be responsible for entry fees. Any contestant that notifies a doctor release, visible release, vet release, draw out, or a notified turnout will still be responsible for any entry fees they would incur regardless if replaced or not. Doctor releases are not responsible for entry fees as an example.
