Contestant Information: Tour Finale Format 2025

NOTE: Armstrong will count as a single Rodeo count

Entry Information:

  1. The top 20 contestants from the 2026 Massey Ferguson Pro Rodeo Tour will qualify for the 2026 Tour Finale in Armstrong during the IPE Rodeo.
    1. The Tour Season is completed at Dawson Creek Stampede for the 2026 season.
    1. Should there be a tie for the final qualifying spot(s) in any event, only 20 will qualify, and the tie will be broken in favor of those with the highest total money won at 2026 Massey Ferguson Pro Rodeo Tour rodeos following Dawson Creek Stampede.
  1. All contestants must make an official entry through CRES prior to entry closing time. Entries open online at 8 AM on Wednesday, August 12, and close at 2 PM, Thursday, August 13th @ 2:00 PM (Mountain Time).  Qualified contestants that did not enter by closing time will not be automatically entered nor guaranteed a position. Should less than 20 contestants enter for a position at the Finale, the CPRA reserves the right to fill the remaining positions.
    1. For ease of entries for the contestants you can enter as a buddy group, this is solely so that an entry group can all be registered at the same time. All entries will be treated as individuals based on Tour standings
  1. There will be two pools of contestants (Pool A, Wednesday, September 2 and Pool B Thursday, September 3) consisting of 10 in each event.
    1. 10 contestants will be placed in the first two performances (Pool A and Pool B) based on Tour standings after Dawson Creek of those that enter with 1,4,5,.8,9, 12,13,16,17,20 in Pool A and 2,3,6,7,10,11,14,15,18,19 competing in Pool B
    1. In the event there are less than 20 contestants Pools will be split equally
  2. Contestants will have the opportunity to trade positions until 2 PM, Wednesday August 19th.
  • In team roping, 20 teams will be accepted as entries.  The top 20 headers and the top 20 heelers based on 2026 Massey Ferguson Pro Rodeo Tour Standings who enter will be accepted. In team roping, the 20 headers who qualify must rope with the 20 heelers who qualify. Team ropers must designate partners when they enter to confirm competition. Should there be a discrepancy in partner designation, the latest entry confirmation will be accepted. Any team roping qualifier whose partner did not also qualify will be contacted on Friday August 14th so all Ropers without a partner can find partners by end of day (4 PM) on the 14th
    • Team Roping Priority will be based on combined partner point totals.
    • In team roping, if prior to the start of the event one partner is injured/turns out/draws out they will be replaced by the next contestant that has entered in the Tour standings until they are filled. If one partner is injured/turns out/draws out after the teams Pool round of competition the remaining partner may select a new partner from a Finale contestant that is already entered but not already competing in the team roping event. Outside replacements will not be allowed at this point.

Tour Finale Format 2026:

  1. There will be two pools of contestants (Pool A, Wednesday, September 2 and Pool B Thursday, September 3) consisting of 10 in each event.
  2. The top 3 times and scores from both Pool A and B will advance to Saturday’s Finale
    1. Tiebreakers: only 3 will advance to Saturdays Finale from each pool and if a tie takes place the contestant with the highest Tour point total shall advance. If a tie still exists, the highest-money winner in the Tour shall advance. If a tie still exists, judges shall flip a coin for advancement.
  3. Additionally, the top two “point earners” from the 2026 Season Tour standings that did not qualify from their Pool will also advance to Saturday’s Finale regardless of Pool results.
    1. These two contestants must have competed in their Pool round to advance to Saturdays Finale. 
  4. The remaining twelve contestants will move to the Friday Wildcard round. The top two rides or runs from the Wildcard advance to Saturday’s Finale.
    1. Tiebreakers: only 2 will advance to Saturdays Finale and if a tie takes place the contestant with the fastest time or highest score in their Pool competition shall advance. If a tie still exists, the contestant with the most Tour points total shall advance. If a tie still exists, the highest-money winner in the Tour shall advance. If a tie still exists, judges shall flip a coin for advancement. 
  5. In any advancement go-round if there are not enough qualified rides or runs to advance contestants then advancement will be based on that round’s tiebreakers.
  6. Saturday’s Finale will consist of 10 contestants that will compete once with the top four being paid per the pay structure below
  7. The Highest Score or Fastest Run on Saturday Night will be named the 2026 Tour Champion.
    1. Championship Round Tiebreakers- In the event of a tie (involving a qualified score or time) in the finals, the payoff for the corresponding places will be split between the contestants who tie, though a tie will be broken to determine the contestant who wins the Event Championship based on Final Tour Season points, if Tie still exists Monies earned at Tour Rodeos in 2026 will determine winner. If Tie still exists, the contestant with the fastest time or highest score during the 2026 Tour Finale will be named champion. If Tie still exists contestants will flip a coin to determine the Tour championship.

Note: for all tiebreakers in the Team roping, combined points/earnings will be used as opposed to individual points.

Note: there are no tour points available during the Tour finale, and it is a fresh slate. Tour points are used for qualifications and tie breakers exclusively.

Run order:

  • In the Pool rounds will be based on Tour Standings with 1st place being top of the draw in LBR and Roughstock and Last out in the other Timed events
  • In the Wildcard round will be based on your Pool round time or score with Tour standings determining any ties in score with fastest time getting the top of ground in LBR and Last out in other Timed events.
  • In the Finale the contestants will be placed in order by random draw following the Wildcard round. IN the Roughstock the buck order will be set, and contestants will randomly be drawn an animal and compete in order that it corresponds with the set buck order.

Payout:

  • Total Payout per Pool Performances per event/per perf (per side in TR): $4000

1st place- $2000

2nd place-$1200

3rd place- $800

  • Total Payout for the Wild Card round per event/per perf (per side in TR): $4000

1st place- $1,600

2nd place-$1,200

3rd place- $800

4th place- $400

  • Total Payout for Finals per event/per perf (per side in TR): $15,000

1st place- $7,500

2nd place-$3,750

3rd place- $2,250

4th place- $1,500

  • If not enough rides or runs to fill all placings for a given performance the remaining places shall be considered as ground money and distributed to those with a qualified ride or run for the performance.
    • If no contestants in an event have a qualified ride or run, all payout from that performance will be added into the Saturday Finals purse.
    • If no contestants have a qualified ride or run during Saturdays Finale money shall be evening distributed between the 3 previous rounds.

Ground Rules:

  1. Turn outs/Alternate Procedure: Contestants who have originally entered and were eligible at time of entry but were drawn out will be added to an alternate list. CPRA will make all efforts to fill available spots until the alternates list is exhausted
  2. If stock has already been drawn, the alternate contestant will draw stock from a pool of animals consisting of all turned out stock and the 1st re-ride stock for their performance.
    1. Should less than 20 contestants be available to fill all positions at the Finale, the CPRA reserves the right to fill the remaining positions up to 90 minutes before the Pool performances.
  3. Replacements will be called in order of Tour Standings for those that entered.
  4. Replacements are only available for the Pool round of competition.
  5. In the Team Roping if one partner is a turnout/DR/ Visible:
    1. For the Pool Rounds the replacement partner will come from the next contestant in the Tour Standings.
    1. for the Wild Card or Finals, the remaining partner must find a replacement partner from contestants already entered in the Tour Finale in another event.
  6. If a contestant notifies a turn-out, DR, or visible release and is replaced by an alternate, the alternate contestant will be responsible for the entry fee. If the contestant that notified the turn-out or visible release is NOT replaced by an alternate, they will be responsible for the entry fees. If the contestant presents a proper doctor’s release, they will not be responsible for entry fees.
  7. Any contestant turning out of the Wildcard round will be assessed a $250 Turnout Fine and any contestant turning out of the Saturday Finale will be assessed a $500 Turn out Fine.
  8. Trades will be available until Thursday August 19th at 2 PM.
  9. The spares will be used in the case of a re-run. Will not run cattle back in the timed events.

Contestant Information:

  1. Pre-conditioning of livestock must be finished 2 hours prior to the rodeo start time of 7:30 PM
  2. Companion tickets for competitors are available on first-come-first-served basis each day at the Rodeo Office by the red grandstands. Contestants must obtain ticket prior to 6 PM (after which time tickets will be sold). Companion tickets are available in either the family section OR 19+ section.
  3. Contestants will park in the designated parking area only. Parking is limited.
  4. There will be no horse pens set up while on the grounds.
  5. NO overnight camping

+CRES & other associate fees with be charged in addition to all entry fees as per the rule book.
