They both suspected it would happen. But, Kash Bonnett and Logan Cullen didn’t anticipate it would be them who would become the first team ropers to pass the 50-thousand-dollar mark in earnings in a regular season in Canada.
“We talked at the start of the year and we said someone will do it,” recalls Cullen of the conversation with his heading partner. “Because of how much better the rodeos are getting, I don’t think it’s out of the question that someone will win seventy thousand in a season before the CFR in the next few years.”
“It was good for us all season. Honestly, there were only a couple of weekends that we didn’t win anything. Other than that, we were winning pretty consistently.”
Bonnett, who along with Cullen, each won $59,664 during the regular season, agrees.
“There were the two weekends of Wainwright and Innisfail that we didn’t win anything but, other than that, we were winning every single weekend. I had never done that well before. Normally, I have about ten thousand won after Strathmore and then have a big August.”
It’s the second season leader award for the 25-year-old, Bonnett and the first for the 23-year-old, Cullen.
“It was something that I’d wanted to win,” offers Cullen. “I think its cool to be able to go into the CFR in number one and hopefully you leave there in number one.”
“Hopefully we can do what we did last year and have a shot at another Canadian title,” says Bonnett, who partnered with Cullen to win just shy of one-hundred thousand dollars combined at last year’s Canadian Finals Rodeo.
Bonnett and Cullen were the only duo to catch all five steers at Rogers Place in 2025 and went on to set overall single season earnings records in the process.

“We both have the same goals and we rope well together,” suggests Bonnett, who roped with Cullen for the second straight year on the Pro Rodeo Canada trail. “We both see the run the same if that makes sense. He can speed it up if I have to run the steer further or vice versa. And we both have two really good horses right now that match up together really well right now.”
“We rope almost every single day,” says Cullen. “Our parents share a fence in Arizona in the winter so we rope every day down there. I know what he’s going to do and he knows what I’m going to do. When you rope that many steers together, it just makes it easy.
The “really good horses” Bonnett speaks of are, in fact, the Canadian team roping Horses of the Year. He rides an 11-year-old named Joe. Cullen has a 15-year-old bay called Whiz.

“I’ve had him for seven years now and he’s been a game changer for me.”
Two of the heelers joining Cullen in Edmonton will be chasing history. Jeremy Buhler and Tyrell Flewelling are in search of a record-tying fourth Canadian heeling championship, which would tie Rocky Dallyn for the most in history.
“Nobody’s ever going to confuse me with Rocky Dallyn. He’s probably one of the greatest heelers ever in Canada,” suggests the 40-year-old, Flewelling, who won his titles in 2011, 2013 and 2015. “I’m just hoping to go up to Edmonton and compete the best I can with these young guys and see where I end up. But, I would love to win another one, it would be the icing on the cake.”
Flewelling, who roped with seven different headers in 2026, will partner with Montana’s Dustin Bird for the CFR. The 46-year-old, Bird is the only other team roper in Edmonton this month who has won multiple championships, capturing heading titles in 2012 and 2016.
