Bronc rider Tyrel Roberts was born and raised 1800 kilometers west of Souris in the British Columbia community of Charlie Lake. And while the quiet-spoken BC cowboy tends to fly under the radar for the most part, he is looking to kick start his 2026 season. A second go-round 83.5 point win on the back of C5 Rodeo’s 64 Glow Getter keeps him solidly in the mix at the midway point of the Circuit Finals. And his 160.5 on two has him in sixth place, a manageable six points behind overall leader, Kole Ashbacher who was the Circuit leader coming into the Regina event.
Manitoba tie-down roper Stran Dunham’s quest for the 2025 Canadian title went down to the last calf in the final round of the 2025 Canadian Finals Rodeo at Edmonton’s Rogers Place before the talented 23-year-old relinquished the championship to fellow Canadian Kyle Lucas.
Dunham has wasted no time in jumping back into the battle for the coveted buckle as he has been on his game through the first two rounds of the Maple Leaf Circuit Finals. After posting a middle-of-the-road 10.6 second run in Wednesday night’s opening round of the MLC Finals at Regina’s Canadian Western Agribition, the likable athlete blazed his way to a 7.9 second win on Thursday night and is tied for third – with Lucas – on the all-important aggregate leaderboard. With two rounds remaining, Dunham has his sights set on overall leader and defending MLC Champion, Logan Bird, who won the opening round and leads the aggregate as well.

Dunham is wanting to get the upcoming season off to a good start and knows that the money won in Regina’s Brandt Centre this week counts in the 2026 standings and can provide a valuable shot in the arm for any competitor who has a good week in the Saskatchewan provincial capitol.
Other noteworthy performances at Regina’s Brandt Center on night two were three back to back event wins:
- Bareback rider Ty Taypotat (originally from Sask, now calling Nanton, AB home) earned a second consecutive bareback win with 82 points on Duffy Rodeo’s 223 Mulberry Hill.
- Barrel racer Blake Molle and JJ posted another lightening fast run – this time 13.80 seconds.
- Bull rider Coy Robbins turned in an 85 point ride on C5 Rodeo’s Bag Of Mystery – good for his second first place cheque of the Finals.
