Vold Earns Sixth Cheque of #WranglerNFR on Canadian Night

Canadian NFR contingentLAS VEGAS, NV-- December 11, 2014 -- Jake Vold earned his sixth cheque of his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Round 8, which also happened to be Canadian night.

A score of 80.5 put the Ponoka, Alberta athlete in a tie for fifth with World Champ Kaycee Feild for $3,984 a man. Vold has now earned $28,912 in Las Vegas.. At the conclusion of Round 8, he sits in a tie for fifth in the aggregate with Bobby Mote, both at 643.5 on eight horses.

$27,753 is all that separates world leader Kaycee Feild from second place man, Austin Foss. Foss leads the aggregate; Feild sits third.

Curtis Cassidy missed his steer tonight and unfortunately took a no time. Based on the way things have been going since Round 5, Cassidy should probably win again tomorrow. Cassidy slipped to 12th in the aggregate but has won the fourth most money of all steer wrestlers in Vegas to sit sixth in world. Luke Branquinho holds the world lead and the lead in the aggregate.

Trevor Brazile and Travis Graves made their way within $659 of first place team, Clay Tryan and Jade Corkill in the Team Roping. Tryan and Corkill lead the aggregate; Brazile and Graves sit third. Canadian Champions Dustin Bird and Paul Eaves are third in the world but ninth in the aggregate.

Dustin Flundra's 70 point score left him out of the money in Round 8 but he's still seventh in the aggregate. Nickels and Dimes from the Kesler firm helped Wade Sundell to a split of fifth tonight for $3,984. Cort Scheer and Heith DeMoss are in a battle for the buckle. Scheer leads the aggregate but is second in the world. DeMoss leads the world but is eighth in the aggregate.

It looks like three men have a shot at the tie down roping World Championship. 2014 Canadian Champion Matt Shiozawa and 21-time World Champ Trevor Brazile tied for the round win to make things more interesting in Round 8. Shiozawa leads the aggregate, Brazile sits third and Tuf Cooper is second. Cooper leads the world, Shiozawa is second and Brazile is third. 2013 Canadian Champion Timber Moore tied for fourth on Thursday with a 7.2 - worth $6,436 - moving his WNFR earnings to $35,246.

15 one hundredths of a second is all that four-time Canadian Champion Lisa Lockhart leads Fallon Taylor by for first place in the barrel racing aggregate. The colorful Taylor leads the world by just over $11,000.

Beau Hill earned a fifth place cheque after an 81.5 score, pushing his earnings at the WNFR past $40,000 including ground money. Sage Kimzey rode Guns & Donuts from Silver Creek Rodeo tonight for an 84.5 to solidify his first World Championship and also secure the aggregate title. It looks like he's set to drive himself home in that new Ram Truck from the Top Gun award standings. Fallon Taylor is next closest.
